WELCOME

TO

FRANKLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

Welcome to the Franklin Elementary School website! Franklin is a great school with fantastic children, supportive parents and community and a hard working dedicated staff. Our focus is to assure that every student is learning at a high level and being successful.

In an effort to communicate better with parents, we have a new marquee at the front of the school. We hope you will take time to read the messages. We have improved our school web page and are making an effort to keep it current and informative. Many classroom teachers are doing the same thing with their classroom web pages and we hope to have all the teachers on board in the next few weeks. We hope you find your visit to our website informative and enjoyable. Please call the school if you have any questions.

Franklin Elementary Receives Large Donation from Provo Farmers Market
November 3, 2009

Franklin Elementary received a large donation of $7,665 from the Provo Farmers Market, a sum far larger than Principal Marlin Palmer was ever expecting. Originally founded in 2002, the Farmers Market began as a way to offer local produce to Provo’s citizens, as well as provide additional funding specifically for Franklin Elementary School. Each year the Farmers Market donates its surplus funds to enable the elementary school to buy additional classroom supplies. When the Farmers Market asked Palmer what his school needed this year, he gave them a list of things, thinking they would provide enough for one of the items on Franklin’s list. To his surprise, the Farmers Market presented Palmer with a giant-sized check with enough money to cover all of the needs Palmer mentioned.

"This really is incredible, and we really appreciate this gift," Palmer said. "The teachers, and especially the students, are so grateful too. It is going to make a difference in the learning and the teaching that happens here."
Principal Palmer said the money would go toward special calculators for students who struggle with math, as well as additional electronic pens for the interactive Promethean whiteboards and electronic responders that help teachers monitor which concepts students understand and which subjects need a little more time and teaching.
